Traditional Irish Music
Updated : Freya Rae and Louis Bingham have announced the release of their debut album this October 2015. Freya (flutes, whistles, clarinet) and Louis (guitars, banjo, bouzouki, bodhrán) present an exciting and original album exploring unusual traditional and new compositions based on Irish and Breton dance music. The album will be called Curlicue and they have released the title track.
Freya grew up in the Scottish Borders where she learnt the flute and whistle from a young age. Louis is a multi-instrumentalist from Devon who has developed distinctive playing styles on guitar, tenor banjo, bouzouki, and bodhrán, Strongly influenced by the instrumental traditions of Ireland, he also draws on a wide variety of repertoire and musical styles ranging from those of Brittany and Scandinavia, to old-time and bluegrass, and traditional musics from the Mediterranean and West Africa.
