A Gem of an Album - Deiseal / The Long Long Note

This may well be the best kept secret or the worst kept secret in traditional music. When Cormac Breatnach, Niall Ó Callanáin and Paul O’Driscoll went into the studio all those years ago they really created something special with this album. They brought the music of the low whistle out and displayed it in a way that is truly magnificent from start to finish. If I was to choose a desert island disk than this could easily be a contender, and that coming from a fiddle player, says something.

Every tune is breathtaking in it's structure and presentation. This is real late night chill out music of the highest order. From the beautiful Sí Beag, Sí Mór to the long slow introduction of Raindrops you will be immediately captivated. Cormac and Niall were founding members of Meristem earlier in their careers where they learned to hone their creative approach to the music that has culminated in this album.

The album is a mixture of old and new tunes that they given their own special treatment to. A must have album.
