Traditional Irish Music
We have just got our hands on MacDara Ó Raghallaigh's album Ego trip and words at this early stage escape us. What a powerhouse of an album. A kind of MacDara Ó Raghallaigh unplugged for the non MTV trad loving generation. It just goes to show what you can do with a few microphones, a thousand or so people and a bucket load of talent.
Live and raw with no editing of any little fluffs or scrapes, of which it must be said there are few. Powerful driving fiddle playing. One fiddle player, two fiddles, two audiences and a bunch of tunes that he likes to play. Recorded in a village hall it follows a recent trend in this direction what with Jack Talty and Cormac Begley recording Na Fir Bolg in a Church, so it's just the way we like it.
We will do a review shortly after we have soaked it up for a week or so. www.cdbaby.com
