Exclusive Single Premiere : Olaf Sickmann / Still Walking

On June 10th German composer, guitarist and whistle player Olaf Sickmann will release a new single called Still Walking.  The track combines classical influences with soundtrack-like music and traditional Irish elements to create a kind of New Celtic Music.

“The piece begins with spacy jazz-tinged piano/keyboard sounds, soon to be joined by intense electric guitar. These are contrasted with a melodic and virtuoso performance on the tin whistle which draws its inspiration from Irish instrumental music, building up to a crescendo through the continual addition of ever more polyphonic voicings.”

In describing the track Olaf says that it “reaches its climax in a hypnotic hurricane of sound, offering the listener an exciting and unusual piece of music which reflects the liberating emotional experience described above.”

To spice up the production, Olaf brought in an experienced and musically eclectic co-producer in the form of Marcus Praed, guitarist with American cult rockers Tito & Tarantula (world-renowned through their appearance in Roberto Rodriguez' film From Dusk Till Dawn), who recorded and mixed Still Walking in an ancient water mill.

He says the tune “came about during a period where I found myself at a dead end, both privately and professionally. I decided to give up my apartment, sell everything I didn't really need and go abroad for a while in order to make a fresh start. This was a most liberating experience and turned out to be the best decision I ever made in my life. Things started looking up immediately and have remained that way ever since."

Over the course of the last 15 years, Olaf Sickmann has carved out a niche for himself in the field of timeless instrumental music. His compositions get regular airplay on radio and television and are increasingly used for promotional purposes by a wide range of companies.

The single is now available on iTunes and you can also visit www.timezone-records.com for more information.
