Traditional Irish Music
Celebrating the musicians who have given their all to compete at the very highest level in the instrument of their choice at the Fleadh Cheoil 2012 which took place again for the third time in Cavan. From across the globe they have gathered and it is worth celebrating some of the winners.
Fiddle : In the senior fiddle the winner this year was Niall Ó Murchú CCÉ, Ring of Gullion, Ard Mhacha with second place going to Dylan Foley from NY. Lucia Nic Phartaláin of CCÉ, Ormond, Tiobraid Árann came third.
Flute : The senior winner in the Flute this year was Tomás Fitz Harris, CCÉ, An Spinc, Laois
Whistle and Uilleann Pipes : Seán Céitinn, CCÉ, Craobh Niall Ó Cathasaigh Baile an Chollaigh, Corcaigh took both the senior title in Whistle and Uilleann Pipes.
Concertina : Niamh Ní Shúilleabháin, CCÉ, Craobh Shéan Treacy, Áth Cliath took 1st place on Concertina.
Banjo : Con Mac Mathúna, CCÉ, Baile Buí, Uíbh Fháilí took 1st Place on Banjo.
Slow Airs : Finnally our own Órlaith McAuliffe, CCÉ, East London, England took 1st place on Flute Slow airs and 2nd on Whistle slow airs so a big congrats there.
We will summarise all the competition results when they are available.
