Traditional Irish Music
Ballycastle Harbour and Fair Head, with the Mull of Kintyre & Argyll in the distance.
This photo gives a glimpse of just one of the stunning views that are on offer, up here on the North Coast.
Anyway, last Christmas, Santa brought me an iMac, which included the wonderful iMovie & Garage Band, which has given me a new way to promote my Music, the Music of North Antrim & some of the stunning scenery up here.
So now that I'm starting to get the hang of them, I've started putting a few videos together. However, as the format doesn't exactly fit in with the other videos in our Video Library here, although I believe some of the music does, I thought I'd add them to my Blog instead.
So this is a collection of videos I put together recently using iMovie, video clips of my dogs & local countryside, plus some musical photos.
For the 1st soundtrack, I recorded two lovely tunes written by Uilleann Piper Peter Browne, namely Rathlin Air & Reel, for the 2nd I played a Swedish tune, for the 3rd I played 3 popular tunes, while in the 4th I played a popular Irish Reel. In the 5th & 6th I use two recordings of Co. Antrim Piper John Hughes & myself on Fiddle, from the Giant's Causeway Concert at the Causeway Dulcimer Festival in Bushmills, in 2005.
For the other videos I used some of my own compositions from my CD From a northern Shore.

I wonder how many members here, play an English Concertina?
I love playing mine for certain music, like accompanying a singer & I find them excellent for playing Airs, Planxtys, Hornpipes & Marches.
Here's an example of my Wheatstone Baritone / Treble at work, double tracked in two octaves, plus Fiddle, Mandolin & Whistle.
It's a simple tune, but one of my favourite Burns Airs.

Dick,
This is without doubt fantastic stuff. Top drawer. In fact I think it works better as a blog and in a way forces people to tell a bit of a story about what they are doing. I feel sometimes that the videos are getting lost in the video library, and you may notice that lately I am extracting a few of them, adding them to a blog and putting a bit of text.
Blogs that have some text/story and a good image get featured on the home page, and can be re featured again and again as new members join.
I'm trying to push the idea of more blogs from members anyway as I think this leads to better engagement. We are a nation of story tellers and what better stories to tell than the trials and tribulations of learning this beautifull music. I just wish I could live my life over and have started the trad a bit sooner.
So com on folks, get blogging
