Every day we look online for great new traditional Irish music.  Discovering new artists and music is central to us promoting artists. This can be anything from established artists with several albums out to new artists with their first recording.  These days with the way technology has gone it can also apply to unsigned artists with demo's and music loaded onto Soundcloud and elsewhere.  With our limited resources this does take time.

To ease this process we have created two groups, one on Soundcloud and one on Facebook  that are aimed at artists that want their music picked up on and promoted by TradConnect. The preference is to use Soundcloud as tracks loaded on Soundcloud are one of the best ways of promoting artists. In addition most artists and bands on Facebook have pages, which can't join groups.

Make sure that your profile on Facebook and Soundcloud includes some bio information and relevant links to your website, CDbaby etc. Once we create content we re post it out to multiple social media outlets including Facebook, Digg, Stumbleupon etc so it is a great way for your music to go viral.

Also remember to upload tracks onto Tradconnect and keep your profile up to date. When you are active on Tradconnect you come to our attention and we check on your profile.  If we like your music we create content around you. So here are the two groups. Join up and let us discover your music.

1. Join one or both of these groups

Irish traditional Music - Promotion, on Soundcloud ( Preference )

Irish traditional Music - Promotion, on Facebook ( Note : Facebook does not allow "Pages" to join "Groups" )

2. Make sure your links on these sites and bio info is up to date.

3. Make sure you are also a member on Tradconnect as we sometimes give priority to our members

Ah, me thinks I didn't think this one through.  Good point. Maybe I will put a note for bands to use the Soundcloud group rather than Facebook. Ultimately members should have some sample tracks up on Soundcloud that can be used for embedding. I will edit the above discussion. Do you think this will work Patrick ?

Hi, Tony-- I'd love to take part, but http://www.facebook.com/patrickcliffordmusic is a "page" on Facebook rather than a personal account (as I think most bands are). Unless I'm missing it, only personal accounts can join groups. Any alternatives?
