Hands Up For Trad - Exlporing Scottish & Irish Music at the World Academy, Feb '14

HANDS UP FOR TRAD was formed in 2002 and exists to increase the profile and visibility of Scottish Traditional Music through Information, Education and Advocacy. This is a set of tracks they recorded on the 28th February 2014 at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. They say that they "set out on Wednesday 26th to make 4 pieces of music for performance at the Academy concert".

"It was brilliant fun! The students are all so capable and right from the start they were full of energy and performed the tunes with real exuberance. I wanted to make new music that 1. challenged the students but also they instinctively understood. The Scots and Irish traditions are very close ie we both rock so I felt there was instant synergy between us. The sets looked at new ways to arrange trad music whilst still keeping them within the tradition".
