Having played the fiddle and mandolin for nearly twenty years I have never been satisfied with the volume of the mandolin and my intonation on the fiddle especially in the faster tunes leaves a bit to be desired, I thought I would have a go with a new instrument.

I am now awaiting delivery of a Copeland 19 fret Irish tenor banjo from a Shop in Dublin. Any tips on playing and/or setting up would be much appreciated.

I will report how I am getting on with it as progress is made in this blog, so watch this space!!

Hi Alan,

You might want to start by joining The Irish Tenor Banjo Group on the site here.  They have 80 members so I'm sure there's a wealth of knowledge ready to be tapped into there!  Best of luck with it.
