Traditional Irish Music
The Irish Traditional Music Archive are seeking applications for a Multimedia Digitisation Assistant. The placement is full-time (30 hours per week), runs for 9 months, and is offered through the Irish National Internship Scheme. Multimedia Digitisation Assistant
The intern will gain practical experience in digitising sound recordings, printed items, still images and videos to archival standard, and in creating related metadata for these, and born-digital items in the collection. They will also contribute to the Archive's range of web and intranet projects which make these digital items available to users remotely and locally. The intern will receive formal/informal training in the following: multimedia digitising, metadata creation and web publishing. On completion the intern will have attained skills in all the digitisation processes in place in the Irish Traditional Music Archive as well as gaining an overall experience of the range of public services & processes at work in a multimedia archive.
Candidates for the position must have 3rd level degree or recognised industry qualification and knowledge of and/or involvement in the Irish traditional arts (music, song, dance). Attention to detail is essential. Knowledge of the Irish language, music notation, digitising or cataloguing will be an advantage
