ITMA Post Tunes of Munster Pipers

To mark the first anniversary of the public launch of the Irish Traditional Music Archive’s revamped website, the ITMA has posted here the Scorch files of the first 100 tunes from the first ITMA book publication Tunes of the Munster Pipers: Irish Traditional Music from the James..., edited by the late Dr Hugh Shields and published in 1998.
 
This publication is now out of print, and will be for some time as the ITMA is devoting its scarce financial resources towards publishing the second and final volume of its Goodman series. This volume is currently nearing completion, edited by Lisa Shields.

Pending the book republication of the first Goodman volume, which will take place whenever finances permit, ITMA will be making freely available here in its Digital Library over the next few months the Scorch file versions of the tunes the volume contains. As always with Scorch files, the notation of the tunes will be visible on screen, and will be available for computer playback with the facility to change tempo, key, etc. For further information on James Goodman and his collection click here. or visit www.itma.ie
