Traditional Irish Music
The world-renowned Kilfenora Céilí Band havejust released their first ever single “Clare My Heart My Home’. Written and arranged by Kilfenora band member Tim Collins, the song sees the legends of traditional music collaborate with singers Edel Vaughan, Jerry Lynch, Craig Flanagan, St Patrick’s Pipe Band, Tulla and Clarecastle/Ballyea Youth Choir on this particular project. This single is available as a free download to Irish radio broadcasters around the world through our Download Centre here on Tradconnect. Contact us for details.
Originally commissioned by Fleadh TV, the Kilfenora Céilí Band premiered ‘Clare My Heart My Home’ at the opening of Fleadh Cheoil Na hÉireann, in Ennis this Summer. The song became an immediate ‘hit’, with over 90, 000 people viewing it on the band’s Facebook page within a month of their live performance on Fleadh TV.
The immediacy of social media also meant that the instant appeal of the song reverberated well beyond Irish shores, with hundreds of messages and requests for the song’s music and lyrics from as far away as the UK, Australia, and the United States. Dubbed by award-winning broadcaster, author and producer PJ Curtis as the ‘new Clare Anthem’ the song is, in his words, set to ‘become a classic’.
In keeping with the Kilfenora’s canny ability to transcend the contours of Irish traditional music, ‘Clare My Heart My Home’ has a lush contemporary feel to it. In this recording, the band draws on its immense musicality to create a song that not alone, will appeal to Clare people and their descendants around the globe, but to a very broad listenership in general, who simply enjoy great music.
Produced by Tim Collins and band leader, John Lynch, and engineered by the superbly talented Martin O’Malley of Malbay Studios, Miltown Malbay, ‘Clare My Heart My Home’ will be launched officially in glór, Ennis on 6 January during their annual concert series at the venue.
