Latest Digitised Materials from the Irish Traditional Music Archive

A Chairde / Dear Friends,  Welcome to the first of our regular bi-monthly selections of Digitised Materials from the ITMA collections for 2014.

After the recent tsunami of digitised materials which we uploaded in December and early January – among them our Advent Calendar, two Francis Roche volumes of interactive scores, and our new PW Joyce Irish Music Microsite – we thought that we’d throttle back a little for this first regular selection of the new year. The quality and interest of the material is as high as ever, but the volume is less overwhelming. Remember however that all the digitised materials in our online library will remain permanently on our website, and that you can access them at your own speed, whenever and however you wish. The more we put up, the more choices you will have.

Below are the links to our latest Digitised Materials.

Audio Playlist: Sean Maguire with the Four Star Quartet, 1962 LP

Printed Collections: Irish Tunes for the Warpipes, 1911

Image Gallery: Concertina Pictures, with a Clare Bias

Video Playlist: Lunchtime Uilleann Pipes Recitals, WCSS 2011

N.B. ITMA videos can also be accessed directly on the ITMA YouTube channel.

And:

  • New Microsite: The opening tranches of digitised music materials and information compiled and published by the great Co Limerick music and song collector Patrick Weston Joyce (1827–1914) are available on our new PW Joyce Irish Music Microsite. Additions will be made to the site throughout this centenary year of Joyce’s death.
  • Interactive Scores: The melodies of the four volumes of the complete published collection of another Co Limerick musician and collector, Francis Roche, are available here for reading and audio playback.
  • Late-Night Opening: ITMA will continue its late-opening every Thursday night until 8.00 pm.
  • Saturday Opening: Our next Saturday opening will be 15 February 2014, 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
  • Social Media: You can follow ITMA on Twitter @ITMADublin as well as on Facebook.
  • On-Line Catalogue: Records are constantly being added and all are available here.
  • Recent Publications & Acquisitions: Our latest listings of recent publications and other acquisitions (all available for reference in ITMA) are here.

With best wishes,
