Notes from the Road : Lúnasa update and tour details for December 2013

Yes, it IS that time of year … and to celebrate we’ve decided to have our first go at a special Lúnasa Holiday/Christmas show. Our friends in the USA will be the first recipients of our Christmas cheer. If that works, we intend to make it an annual event in the US and maybe elsewhere. One of the great Irish singers, Karan Casey will be joining us for several shows, along with some very fine dancers … and Kev has one or two other tricks up his sleeve, which he’s not sharing with us until showtime! We’re delighted to be visiting some amazing new venues including one of the world’s great concert halls, the Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA and the opulent and historic Grand Opera House, Wilmington, DE … perfect settings for our Christmas extravaganza.

Our Christmas touring theme continues into Japan where we commence a run of shows with a Celtic Christmas special we’re co-hosting with our good buddy Sharon Shannon.

As mentioned in our last newsletter, 2014 is shaping up to be another exciting year. We start in grand style with a gala night in the Royal Concert Hall at Celtic Connections, Glasgow (Jan 23). Then it’s off to the snow and ice of Alaska for a couple of weeks followed by our first dose of Australian sunshine in 7 years.

We’re thrilled to have been invited to appear at one of the world’s great folk festivals, Port Fairy Folk Music Festival, Victoria (Mar 7-10); equally thrilled to be sharing a double-bill with our pals Altan at The Factory Sydney (Mar 2); then it’s off to Melbourne and our show at the Thornbury Theatre before making our way down the coast to Port Fairy.
Please also keep updated with our adventures on Facebook and Twitter.

We look forward to seeing you on the road. In the meantime …
