Traditional Irish Music
Milwaukee Irish Fest have published a major article on the challenges faced by touring artists in the US. This year Milwaukee will present their 37th annual festival in August 2017. They state that as a major purchaser of foreign talent, they are seriously concerned that complying with existing non-immigrant Visa, tax rules and associated costs is now becoming a major challenge. Most importantly they state "it is a major disincentive for foreign artists who would like to perform in the US."
They go on to break down the costs and red tape that is likely to be encountered by artists thinking of travelling to the US and you can read the full article here.
Founded in 1981, Milwaukee Irish Fest has grown to become the largest such festival in North America. The festival averages over 100,000 visitors each year. It is acknowledged as one of the most successful international music and cross-cultural diversity festivals in the world. It is often referred to as the “mother of all Irish Festivals."
