More Recording activity - 'Dear Dark Mountain'

More work done on the 'Dear Dark Mountain' album yesterday. Great to work with a number of great Monaghan musicians including traditional singers Caitriona Sherlock and Monica Beagon-Treanor.

Delighted also to finally get a chance to work with Monaghan uilleann piper Eamonn Curran. A former member of the group 'Reel Union', Eamonn has been hugely influential in the development of many musicians in the border region, in particular through his activities with the Armagh Pipers Club.

Eamonn's involvement with the album also adds an interesting symmetry to the 'Dear Dark Mountain' project. The principal of Knockatallon N.S. in north Co. Monaghan, Eamonn will be featured on a number of tunes taken from the music manuscript of James Whiteside, who preceded Eamonn as principal of Knockatallon N.S. during the years 1870 - 1886!

Here is a clip of Eamonn performing with "Reel Union' from the early 1980s.
