Traditional Irish Music
Mórga have finished their Irish tour and we are thankful to Tradconnect for their review which you can read here. We have added a few live audio tracks from the tour to Tradconnect so check our Profile Page. In case in gets lost in our thousands of members we attach one audio from our Derry concert.
The band features Tradconnect members David Munnelly on accordion, Danny Diamond on fiddle, Jonas Fromseier on Banjo/Bauzouki and Dominic Keogh on Bodhrán.
Morga is based around the well-known tradition of fiddle and accordion duet, with backing provided by the bodhran and Greek bouzouki. Add the banjo to this mix and you have a fearsome cocktail! Mórga are a four-piece playing high-energy, souped up Irish traditional music, inspired by the great bands of the 1970s.
The band formed in 2008 and released their debut CD the following year to widespread acclaim. After a couple years of playing around Europe they took a break to recover in 2011. Now they're back with the addition of the legendary David Munnelly on accordion in place of founder-member Barry Brady. www.morga.ie
