Traditional Irish Music
Just dropping by to give you the latest news from the band.
You may have seen/heard that we have a new album ‘Going Places’. Yes it is finally here and available in the web site shop at www.mairtinoconnorband.com There you will find the individual albums and Máirtín’s book and a special offer on our two band recordings to date.
We were in the US in April for a fantastic tour with Martin Hayes, Denis Cahill, Iarla Ó Lionaird, David Power and the soundest sound man, Matt Purcell. Aka The Masters of Tradition tour.
Many thanks to Liz, Judith and all of the presenters who worked to put it together, we had a mighty time in lovely venues with great hospitality. It was so good to meet up with old friends along the way and also to make new ones.
Not used to those long drives and flights any more but managed okay without falling asleep during a gig.
The group will be back Stateside next spring for a longer trip after we have all had our vitamins!
Not much time to rest, Cathal was straight off a flight and into Celtic Note in Dublin for an instore promotion for the new album and RTÉ radio recording ahead of a Dublin gig on 29th April with Heidi Talbot, John McCusker and Ian Carr. It also gave mention to our next performance which is at Fleadh Nua in Ennis this Saturday the 26th May see www.fleadhnua.com for further info. A great event with so much to experience in music and dance all week long.
If you are not in Ireland/Co Clare and can’t make it to the gig then log on to www.livetrad.com for information about the live streaming of the concert.
Details of some Christy Moore dates in the summer have just been announced by the Liffey Banks Sessions. We will be sharing the stage with Christy on July 9th and it would be an understatement to say we are really looking forward to it! The percussion maestro Jim Higgins will be joining us for that one. See our tour info page for further details. You can also catch up on information about other summer gigs including a short trip to Canada supported by Culture Ireland and festivals in France, Spain and Italy – it’s a tough life…
Well that is about it for now, this is our first mailing (woo hoo) – the first of many with lots of good news about the band and the album (hopefully).
Would be delighted if you would share this with your friends and family, you can also follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/mairtinoconnorband
All the best,
Máirtín, Cathal & Séamie
