This week we uploaded a new track from Niamh Ní Charra's tribute album to Terry "Cuz" Teahan called "Cuz". Cuz emigrated from Ireland in 1928 at the age of 23 and brought the music of Sliabh Luachra with him to his new home in Chicago. He lived there for the rest of his life, influencing many of the well know musicians of today. The first tune "The Dolly Varden is a very old barndance that Cuz liked to play. Dolly Varden was a character in Barnaby Rudge by Charles Dickens as well as being a type of trout. The second tune is a slip jig that comes from the Irish song Máire Rua.
