Notes from the Road : Lúnasa newsletter October 2018

Hi all. September was a quiet month for us but we are about to re-enter the fray with trips to Canada, Australia, Ireland and the US on the horizon. We kick off this week with a tour of Ontario, a nice 4 day run of shows all in the vicinity of Toronto. A quick hop across the ocean to the Sydney Irish fest follows in November. Australia was the band’s first touring destination outside of Ireland back in 1997 so it holds a great sentiment for everyone to go back on our 21st birthday! It's then off to Ireland for one of our favourite events The William Kennedy Piping Festival in Armagh, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary - the international lineup is incredible with most of the best pipers on the planet performing and many acts from all over Europe making their only Irish appearances this year. Our US Christmas tour with the wonderful singer, Ashley Davis rounds off the year.

2019 has just developed some great news in that we have added a series of shows at top US venues with the incredible Natalie Merchant.  Natalie has asked us to be part of a series of US East Coast gigs based around our New York City St.Patrick’s Day concert and these include Boston, Troy, Collingswood, NJ and Tarrytown, NY.  Tickets for some of these have almost sold out so best to keep an eye in case they go fast. We also received the exciting news recently that the “Bonny Light Horseman” track from our new cd Cas has been nominated for "Best Folk Track” at the inaugural RTE Folk Awards which take place later this month.
