Traditional Irish Music
It was such a fantastic and varied summer of tours, teaching and tunes galore! Ireland, France, Brittany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, various parts of the US including Alaska.
Apart from the touring we also started work in earnest on a new album that we will be releasing next year as part of our 20 year anniversary celebrations!!
There’s a few surprises in store for this momentous release and we’ll be drip feeding you updates as they occur. Keep an eye on our FB page for pics and sound bites in November. www.facebook.com/lunasaband/
Off to Japan in a couple of weeks for our “great food, great culture and great people tour” www.mplant.com/20th
We absolutely adore this gem of a country and always look forward to performing there. We have some incredibly talented friends and fans in Japan that do amazing things for us such design Lùnasa logo’s or put together animated videos etc. Thanks so much to Taisuke Kashiwazaki and Dolce 1211 for these gifts.
I’m particularly looking forward to Lùnasa’s participation at The Ennis Trad Festival on November 12th. So excited to be heading home and can’t wait to see all the old squad for some tunes and a good old fashioned catch up. After Ennis it’s straight back into the studio to lay down some new tracks for the 20th Anniversary CD.
The New Year might seem a long way off but plans are already in place for two big stateside events. In February, Lúnasa goes on it’s first ever cruise! Starting in Miami, we call into St.Thomas, Tortola and the Bahamas. There’s a brilliant line-up of Irish musicians led by the inimitable Joanie Madden and Cherish the Ladies. Promises to be an epic week going on its previous history. If anyone fancies a winter break combining Caribbean sun, great food and Irish music concerts, sessions, and a chance to see us parading in our speedo’s check it out at www.joaniemaddencruise.com
Also worth mentioning is our debut performance on March 03 2017 at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in NYC. Still can’t believe that we’ve arrived here on our 20th anniversary year, we certainly never imagined it back in 1997.
Come join in the celebrations, its gonna be a cracker of a night.
