Traditional Irish Music
Its always worth following the exploits of our bright young folk as they make their way up the ladder of musical endeavor. This is a new video just released of the Sinsa Gael Linn winners from 2013. It was shot at the recent Temple Bar Trad Festival in January of this year. The group is called Nuada and they are from Meánscoil San Nioclás in An Rinn, Co. Waterford. Nuada has seven members with 3 brothers Pax, Cáthrach and Macdara Ó Faolin on fiddle, accordion and bouzouki. Aoife Nic Giolla Phádraig and Rebecca Saich on concertina, Caoimhín Ó Cionnfhaoladh on bodhrán and guitar and Tomás Ó Dálaigh on fiddle make up the rest of the group.
SIANSA GAEL LINN is one of the country’s most prestigious competitions for young traditional Irish music and singing groups. Organised by Gael Linn with support from Foras na Gaeilge, RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta and Irish Music Magazine, Siansa provides a platform for talented teenage groups who aim to emulate groups such as Téada, Altan, Danú, Dervish etc. While Siansa is essentially a competition, the groups are helped and encouraged along the way by highly regarded traditional musicians.
