Traditional Irish Music
Hi. I'm based in St. Helens, Merseyside and play the 10-string cittern. I've been a part of the Merseyside Irish music scene for the best part of 40 years. My Dad was from Killawalla in County Mayo and in fact a lot of my family are still there - the rest are in Oughterard, County Galway. People I've performed with include most of the Black Family, Niamh Parsons & Graham Dunn, Garva, Ildanach and I was once asked by Christy Moore to sing harmonies on one of his albums ( it never happened ! ).
I've toured Europe many times and performed alongside The Dubliners, The Fureys, Arlo Guthrie, Donovan, Dervish, Tim O'Brien, Andy Irvine, etc. etc.
My first love though is sitting down in good sessions i.e. with musicians who like to play all aspects of Celtic music and song. There used to be so many in this area but they're a bit thin on the ground now, apart from the 100 m.p.h. ones with constant jigs and reels. It would be nice to hear from people who enjoy the same.
