This is a group worth checking out, especially for those of you living in Belfast. Scottish group Rura play there on 17th May 2013. Rura ( Not to be confused with Runa from the States ) are being described as one of the best acts to emerge from the Scottish music scene in the last number of years. They were the winners of the prestigious Danny Kyle Award at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival 2011 and as ‘Up and Coming Artist of the Year’ at MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards. Musically they combine highland pipes, whistles, flute, fiddle, bodhrán, guitar and vocals and you can see from the attached video that they present a compelling reason to go out on a Friday night. We will follow their progress with interest. Their debut album was released last year and was called Break it Up. Check our Spotify Playlist where we have added a track.
