Niamh Ní Charra, Enda Seery & The Bonny Men launching albums at Fleadh Nua this weekend

The 40th Fleadh Nua in Ennis ends this weekend and three Tradconnect members will have album launches over the weekend.
.
Niamh Ní Charra's Cuz - A Tribute to Terry "Cuz" Teahan will be launched on Saturday 25th May at 5.30 in The Old Ground, hotel. grew up in Killarney, Ireland and is recognised internationally for her music on both fiddle and concertina. She performed with Riverdance for close to a decade as a soloist before returning once again to Ireland and making it her home.  Her debut album "Ón Dá Thaobh / From Both Sides" was released in 2007 and she followed this up with  "Sugach Samh/Happy Out" in 2010. Album No.3 takes her in a different direction and is a concept album where melody, lyric, place, time, people and events combine to bring the listener more intimately into her world. She has found a perfect musical vehicle for this project in the life of Terry "Cuz" Teahan.  It combines music, composition, emigration and life on a foreign shore. Read our full album review.

Enda Seery will launch his album Peace of the Countryside on Sunday 26th May at 4.30 in the Temple Gate Hotel. Peace of the Countryside is the second album from Enda Seery and follows very much in the footsteps of his debut The Winding Clock which he released over two years ago. We spoke to him recently and he confirmed that he learned a lot from his debut album and has channelled all that learning back into this release. It’s a great follow up with his playing still retaining all the essential ingredients that makes him one of the most exciting talents on whistle to emerge in some time. Read our full review.

We reviewed The Bonny Men last year and they will launch this album on 25th May at 4.30 in The Old Ground, hotel as well.  Since they formed in January 2011 The Bonny Men have started to make a name for themselves on the live circuit and we had the chance to see them recently at a charity concert where they did indeed impress. As traditional groups go they must be one of the largest with seven members in total covering fiddle, bodhrán, piano, uilleann pipes, bouzouki, flute and Tradconnect memberBarry Lyons on guitar. The atmosphere that they generated at their live gig is captured here to a certain extent as the album was recoded live over four days at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin. Read our full review
