Traditional Irish Music
Long term we may look at doing some fundraising ourselves on Tradconnect. For now we are simply going to highlight members of Tradconnect who have funding campaigns under way and ask that you check them out. If you feel so inclined, make a contribution. All fundraising is done through the funding platforms ( Kickstarter, Fundit, Indiegogo etc ) and not through Tradconnect. We only offer support with kind words and actions.

Joey Abarta ( Ends 3rd May 2013 )
Tradconnect member Joey Abarta is a full time musician playing the uilleann pipes, and living, performing, and teaching in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He has just started a Kickstarter campaign to record his debut album. Check out the video below which is one of the best Kickstarter videos I have seen.
His goal is to release an album of solo uilleann piping. As a piper, his musical inspiration comes from an older generation of pipers whose style both incorporated the whole of the instrument and was built on a legacy of heavy solo performance. A lot of these gentlemen were active in the nineteenth and at the turn of the twentieth century and their rich recorded legacy has deeply influenced him. What he plans to do is record twelve tracks of traditional dance tunes and song airs that both preserves this older approach to playing pipes and reflects his own stylistic approach to it, developed over years of playing, teaching and touring.
So maybe give your support to this project. Click Here to support his fund.
Colleen Raney ( Ends 3rd June 2013 )
Very excited to be returning to Dublin to record the next full band album in July and August of 2013. Updates and album pre-orders can be found at our Fundraising Site (<---click those words if you'd like to see) and I hope you'll join us there.
Making a record is always a huge risk, and more and more artists are on their own to do it – no manager, no agent, no publicist – just themselves and some pluck. I feel very lucky to have you. Because it means that I have a team. Someone to turn to when things get a little scary who is just by their very presence saying “Keep going. Youʼre doing it. Steady on.” So thank you. Before we even get started. For being my courage.
Weʼre very excited to be heading to Ireland in the summer of 2013 to make the third full band album under the careful guidance of guitarist, singer, and producer Aidan Brennan. A collection of songs has been gathered up and weʼre working hard to create some unique arrangements and treatments of this age-old music… and even some new songs will come with us!
The project, from start to finish, will cost about $19,000 with production costs, the bit of travel, reproduction, and a proper publicity campaign to get this album in front of the people who will be able to run with it. That seems like an overwhelming amount to try to put together in the short time before we get started so I am here to ask for your help. A head start.
I hope youʼll consider becoming part of the team and sharing this with your friends. And thank you so much for reading these words and giving it some thought! Check this link Fundraising Site
