Traditional Irish Music
Firstly to all our members, a very Merry Christmas and New Year. And what a year it's been. It was this time last year that myself and a couple of flute players who had been playing together every now and again decided to try and do a weekly practice, get a few more players involved and start a session. All with the goal of improving from where we were at and playing some decent music. In less than 12 months most of those goals have been achieved, the music is getting better and is actually very enjoyable. When you can relax into it and enjoy what you are doing it make all the difference.
From this the idea of TradConnect evolved and here we are 8 months after launch with 1,300 members across this globe. Wow, that is way beyond expectations. For me it would be fantastic if small groups of players got together on TradConnect and started their own practice group and session. Most do this through the local pub session or local CCE branch which is fine. All we are doing here is offering something else, an alternative. As our membership grows and as more people say "yes" to the question "Do you want to connect with other musicians" we are establishing a large group of people that are open to starting something. No matter where in the world you are, if you want to start something at least you will have a ready made group of people in your area to provide notification to, or to draw upon.
So to all our members thank you very much for coming on board. I don't know where this will take us but I know that we will navigate our way through 2012 to provide the best community of traditional Irish musicians online and offline. To you and yours a very Merry Christmas and New Year.
