The Long Road to Glenties - Live Stream Thursday 25th February 2016

A new series of lecture/performances hosted by the Irish Traditional Music Archive in its premises begins on 25 February 2016 with The Long Road to Glenties, a presentation of archival film footage featuring Donegal fiddle player John Doherty and American folk music icon Pete Seeger.

We plan to stream this lecture/performance live on our homepage on Thursday 24th at 7pm.

“In 1964 Pete Seeger travelled with his family to the remote Bluestack mountains of Co. Donegal to spend a single day in the company of elusive folk music legend John Doherty. Now, over 50 years later, The Long Road to Glenties, a presentation by Danny Diamond and Conor Caldwell, reveals the archival film footage and introduces us in more depth to the life and times of this remarkable fiddle player.

Presented with thanks to the Seeger family, The Library of Congress and The Irish Traditional Music Archive.”
