Traditional Irish Music
Music generation is doing a lot of good work to change the lives of children by providing them access to high-quality performance music education that is in their locality. This national music education program was initiated by the Music Network and it was co-founded by U2, department of education and skills and local music education partnerships and the Ireland funds.
The music generation has made an announcement about expanding to new areas of Ireland within five years. They are looking forward to expanding to nine new areas. The music generation has managed to raise a total 6.3 million pounds with the help of The Ireland funds and U2 to help the program reach its second phase. The investment in the second phase is going to include the donations from the proceed of The Joshua Tree tour 2017 of U2 along with donations raised through iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE U@ tour in 2015.
The next phase of the Music Generation is expected to assure the long-term sustainability that is followed by the commitment of the Irish Government with the help of education department and skills. The collaboration of these organizations will result in co-funding new areas into future along with the Local Music Education Partnerships.
Currently, the Music Generation is providing access to the music tuition that is of high-quality and it is providing music tuition for more than 41,000 children in twelve areas of Ireland. The first phase of the music generation was seed-funded through the philanthropic donation offered by U2 and The Ireland Funds in 2009 and the funds were 7 million pounds.
John Fitzpatrick, the Chairman of The Ireland Funds America commented that they are happy that the Music generation has managed to reach its milestones and has made a lot of difference. They have been supporting the organization for seven years and have seen about 41,000 young people enjoying the benefits of the program. Richard Bruton, the Minister for Education and Skills has also shared his views about the collaboration between the Music generation and the ministry. He said that the access of the young people to the performance music is a program that is fully supported by the ministry. The ministry is currently investing about 2.5 million pounds annually. The government is doing its part in ensuring that the future of the non-mainstream music education. He believes that developing musical education is an excellent way of helping the young people in achieving the music dreams. It also helps in building confidence and learning new skills.
The Music Generation is aiming to make sure that every child and young person in Ireland has access to high-quality music tuition. The next phase of the organization is going to help it in achieving the aim of making sure that they achieve their milestone. The generosity of the U2 has helped a lot taking the project to the next phase and the continued support means a lot for the organization. Without the help of everyone involved it would not be possible to achieve the milestones the Music Generation has managed to achieve.
