The Tune Makers Tour - September/October 2012

The Tune Makers tour brings together some of the most prolific composers in Irish traditional music for the first time to showcase their own tunes as well as performing material from other well-known tune writers. Liz Carroll was a junior and senior All-Ireland Fiddle Champion, and has toured as a solo artist and with the Greenfields of America, Trian, String Sisters, and with John Doyle. In 2009 she became the first Irish- American musician nominated for a Grammy. Máirtín O’Connor was one of the main musical forces behind Riverdance, and is also known for his work with De Dannan, Midnight Well, Skylark and as a solo artist. Dave Flynn is an award-winning composer whose music has been performed by artists including the Smith Quartet and the ConTempo Quartet, Prague and Irish Chamber Orchestras and Martin Hayes at festivals including Summergarden, New York & Prague Premieres.

A concert that will both educate and entertain with an all-star line-up of musicians who are in demand individually around the world.

On Tradconnect we are big fans of Liz Carroll in particular and it will be great to her. Since she was 18, when she astounded the Celtic music world by winning the Senior All-Ireland Championship, Liz and her fiddle have been amazing audiences around the globe. In recent years, she has been honored with many accolades, including the nomination for a 2010 Grammy, with John Doyle, for their duet album, "Double Play." And in April of 2011, Liz was awarded the Cumadóir TG4, the first American-born composer honored with Ireland's most significant traditional music prize.
