Tommy Makem Recieves Nomination for Irish American Hall of Fame

Tommy Makem has recieved a nomination for the American Hall of Fame.

Called "The Bard of Armagh" and widely considered the Godfather of Irish Music.  Born in Keady, County Armagh, emigrated to the U.S. in 1955 before settling in Dover, New Hampshire. Tommy Makem was an ambassador of Irish music and storytelling and poetry. He brought his knowledge, love and wit of these for so many years to Irish Americans at festivals and concerts all over the United States. He did television documentaries and travel videos, wrote a book called,Tommy Makem's Secret Ireland and through his conversations with friends and festival and concert audiences inspired and advanced that love of music and storytelling in others. He was the promoter also of the song tradition in music.
