1. Niamh Nic Charra - An Raibh Tú ag an gCarraig?

A track from Niamh's 2007 album Ón Dá Thaobh / From Both Sides that has just been made available, with vocals from Brendan Begley.




2. Deep End of the Ford - The Battle of Clontarf

This track is taken from a suite of songs written to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the Battle of Clontarf They were performed by Deep End of the Ford which features four of our best avant-garde musicians with Lorcán Mac Mathúna central to the writing.




3. Eliza Gilkyson - Eliza Jane

Eliza Gilkyson is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and activist who has become one of the most respected musicians in Roots, Folk and Americana circles. The daughter of legendary songwriter Terry Gilkyson, she entered the music world as a teenager, recording demos for her father. Not strictly trad but you could easily hear this song on a trad album.




4. Danny Diamond - Log Cabin / Sean sa Cheo / The Eel in the Sink

Fiddler Danny Diamond who will be touring this month with his band Mórga gives us this moderately paced set of tunes on solo fiddle.




5. Mike Considine - Follow Me Up to Carlow

A great crosssover track here from Mike Considine.  We reviewed one of Mike's albums in 2013 and you can hear some more sounds and read the review by following this link.




6. Enda Seery/John Byrne/Mark Swaine - Live in Prague 2013

This is a live track taken from a summer school in Prague in 2013 where the boys were no doubt teaching.




7. Kathy Barwick - The Humours of Tulla

Best known for her work in folk, bluegrass, blues and country blues she also plays some traditional Irish.  She has played with some of the best musicians in northern California, including Mountain Laurel Bluegrass Band, The Bluegrass Philharmonic and The All Girl Boys. She currently plays dobro and mandolin in the folk/blues quartet The Mike Justis Band.



8. David Munnelly - Falmór

Another track from a member of Mórga in our top 10 tracks this week.  From another one of his many side projects.  Will have to find out more about it.




9. Mat Walklate - Reels

A couple of reels from Matthew Walklate who we haven't covered much of late. We reviewed his album called Crossing The Sea which he released with his band The House Devils back in 2012.



10. Michelle O' Brien & Laoise Kelly - Dowd's No. 9/Green Fields of Glentown/ Miss Monaghan's

For fiddle and harp there is nothing better than this track from The Wishing Well album. It has received a lot of plays recently on our file so we include it.
