Track of the Week - Crag Road / McHugh's & The Mist Covered Mountain

Next week we have an interview with new Clare group Crag Road. Our interest in their music came from this very well presented video shot in one of their local pubs in Clare.  Its clear from this that the visual medium, when presented well, can bring you so much closer to the personality of the artist or group.  Crag Road consists of Eoin O’ Neill on bouzouki, Quentin Cooper on guitar, banjo and fiddle, Aoibheann Queally on concertina and singer and bodhrán player Noirin Lynch

Nóirin Lynch states that "The four of us in Crag Road love to play well known traditional tunes in a simple, clean way so that the tune is not over-ornamented and the backing remains soft and supportive. We bring instruments together in a way that sounds fresh and interesting and our songs are contemporary Irish tales of love, family and hope". The tunes are 'McHugh's & The Mist Covered Mountain” Tune in next week for the full interview.  For now its Track of the Week.  Visit them on Facebook

Brilliant playing from these folks. I love that 'clean way' they're playing, letting the beauty of the melodies come through. Great video as well-it really shows how the music can be personal & intimate in nature yet appeal to each and every one of us! I look forward to hearing more from Crag Road.
