TradAsh Music Festival, Ashbourne, Meath starts this Thursday 23rd April 2015

TradAsh Irish Music Festival 2015 starts this Thursday April 23rd and runs until Sunday 26th.  TradAsh is a non-commercial weekend of Traditional Irish Music across various venues in Ashbourne, Co Meath. On their website they state that "We are all fortunate enough to be steeped in so many traditions and one of these is our love for traditional Irish music. This annual festival simply aims to capture and encourage this tradition.

Please feel free to join us and invite as many people as possible to make this years event a huge success."

On the closing night in the New Town Hall there will be a special concert by Caitlín Nic Gabhann and Ciarán Ó Maonaigh who have just released a new album which formed part of our Online Launch Series.

On the making of the album Caitlín recently said to us that “We've been playing together for a good few years and the decision to make an album together came quite naturally.  We've developed a sort of 'common ground' where both our styles are comfortable and can be expressed freely. I don't think the music on the album is heavily Donegal or heavily my style.  It's a mix of both Donegal and Scottish tunes, including some compositions by Vincent Broderick, Tommy Peoples, and a few of my own, and of course some dancing!”

They will be playing music from the album and you can read our article here.  Here is a track as well as the festival programme.
