Irish Traditional Album of the Year 2015 - Poll now Closed

Welcome to the Tradconnect Readers Poll to select our Traditional Album of the Year 2015. This year the award is sponsored by The INEC Killarney and the winning artist will receive a cheque for €1,500, as well as the opportunity to appear at one or both of the music festivals organised each year by The INEC.

These include the hugely popular The Gathering Festival that takes place on 17th - 21st February 2016 as well as Folkfest Killarney that takes place on 8th - 10th July.

An outstanding lineup has already been announced for The Gathering that includes Noel Hill, Frankie Gavin, We Banjo 3, Danu and many more. Visit for the latest news. Folkfest Killarney on 8th - 10th July has an equally impressive lineup including Christy Moore, Damien Dempsey, Iarla O’ Lionaird and many more, yet to be announced. Visit

Our Album of the Year award is a celebration of all the great music released in during 2015 and we are delighted that The INEC have come onboard.

Managing Director of The INEC Patrick O’Donohue said “New albums are the lifeblood of trad music, be they of new compositions or reworkings of ancient songs which might otherwise disappear. We are therefore delighted to sponsor this important award.  We use events like Folkfest and The Gathering to showcase the very best in trad music and are keen to support this industry in any way we can.”

This year we have received well over 100 albums, which we list below. We combine this poll with the views of an independent panel of 10 judges to select our traditional album of the year, with the winner announced in February.  This poll will remain open throughout January 2016.
