Traditional Irish Music
Dublin band Lynched made a well deserved BBC appearance on Later ...with Jools Holland this week. They are most definitely the band of the moment and the best thing to come out of Dublin in quite a while. Their debut album was likewise outstanding. We wrote: "A variety of styles and influences have collided on Cold Old Fire to make it the most exciting album of traditional Irish song in decades. It’s the raw, punk injected delivery of some traditional songs that make Lynched such a potent force. Their sharp nasal Dublin accents are somehow ingrained with an incredibly authentic and new sound that hasn't been heard since the Dubliners or Pogues burst onto the scene. They bring a fresh new expression to this form of urban folk with sparse accompaniment further amplifying and propelling their vocals along." Read our full review here and watch their performance.
