Traditional Irish Music
This is the TG4 Gradam Ceoil 2016 performance by the group of musicians behind the “Our Dear Dark Sky with the Sky Over It” recording which won the collaboration award. In a posting on Facebook Seán McElwain the creative force behind it said. “As I settle back into the 'real world', I wish to thank Gradam Ceoil TG4 once more for the honour of being included in this year's Gradam Ceoil awards. The 'Dear Dark Mountain' performance in Cork alongside so many other wonderful musicians and deserving recipients is a memory that will stay with me forever.
It was a privilege to play alongside so many of my friends in the 'Dear Dark Mountain' group on Sunday night, as well as with the lads in Téada and watch with pride as Tristan Rosenstock co-hosted the awards with such aplomb. To be presented with the beautiful Gradam award by Pat McCabe and to get to chat with the great man was an unexpected bonus.
Without labouring the point, I want to thank each and every person who helped with the project along the way and very much consider this award a reflection of the communities from which it emanated. It honours the work of the many people who have played, promoted and encouraged traditional music in our area for generations and confirms something that we have always known - Ní neart go cur le chéile.”
Here is their performance.
