Hi, Kees!!

How are you? Hope you're doing well.

Any news from Holland? Are you playing some tunes?

Here in Rosario the weather is very warm these days... too much I must say!

This year I'm planning to take part of the Willie Clancy summer in Milltown Malbay school and spend a few months in Ireland to improve my banjo skills.

Will I see you there? They say is an extraordinary experience!

Well.. that's all by now... hope to see you there or anywhere to share a session! Bye!!

Hiya Kees!!! Just listened to your Soundcloud posting of "An Paistin Fionn". Very nicely done!!! For a minute I thought to myself, "Hey,... how did Kees pick the same song as me to record and post???" I'm still recording some tracks of it and then have to mix it all,...then I can post it on TC. It'll have an intro of "Si Bheag, Si Mhor" and blend into Niamh Parson's version of "An Paistin Fionn" (one of the first Irish songs I heard and learned). I can only hope I do it justice.

Anyway,....glad to see you're still active and cranking-out those tunes. Cheers,

Hey Kees. Just wanted to extend an invitation for you to join "Storytellers: The Gift of Gab & The Golden Tongue",..a new group I started (since I see you enjoyed Kathleen & Billy's "The Devil & Bailliff McGlynn"). Perhaps we can get a few stories out of you. Cheers, mate. Hope all's well in your end of the world.

Thank you Kees!  Very much!

I will take some time tomorrow and have a listen.

We wrapped up a recording 2 mos. ago and it's in the mix process now....So, we won't be recording again for at least a year.  If we do use it, it will be protected and registered anyway, and you will be credited, as part of the registration of our music.

Many thanks for your kind comments regarding St Anne's Reel. Its a great whistle tune and one I enjoy playing. Having said that, I hardly know any reels at all - something I need to work on!

As with all these tunes, its just a matter of practice and building the speed up over time. And I still "fluff" things regularly. Fortunately, I can just upload edited "good" bits on utube. Unfortunately, as you will now have gussed, what I stick on utube represents my best efforts - so sadly, I can't do any better. I'm working on that as well though!

Hiya Kees,

Many thanks for your kind comments on Carolan's Concerto. Its actually not that difficult a tune to learn, but its one of the easiest tunes to make mistakes with.

I think one of the reasons I love Carolan so much is because his tunes are rarely predictable. Just when you think you know all the finger combinations possible, this Irish chap - who has been dead for almost 300 years - teaches you just how wrong you can be!

I've recently been working on Planxty Maggie Browne - the "B" part of which is a real challenge!

Hi Kees,

Just a brief note to say thanks for joining the Carolan group. I hope you get a lot out of it and have lots of fun with it.

I enjoyed that version of Blind Mary and will steal it for the members archive in the Carolan group - no escape now mate!

Kind regards,

Mike Orme
