P.S. I saw "Masters of Tradition" on tour at Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, California last Friday night, March 8. Wow. What a treat.

cheeers tony...its a great idea for a site....im not hardcore trad though really....i would be much more dubliners than bothy band....ie pints of guinness are a must!! i was thinking of going to some open sessions here in dublin but my level for playing trad would be nowhere near good enough....im happier playing 1/4 tunes and 3/4 ballads and folk....any suggestions where i would open sessions like that?

Thanks Tony..I may very well contact you.  My exact itinerary is still in the planning stages, so I'm not exactly sure what dates I will be in Dublin.  All I know for sure is that I am flying into Shannon on the 19th of May and flying out of Dublin on the 29th.  I will not be traveling with any instruments, so joining in a session might prove a bit difficult..  Ill contact you either way...even if there's no session, maybe you can stop out for a pint.

Thanks, Liam

Thank you, Tony, for creating this wonderful page. I am not a musician (started to learn tin whistle, but quickly abandoned it after visiting Mary Bergin's home, just up the road from Tighe Hughes' Pub in Spiddal, Co. Galwa,y in 1980. She had just given lessons to a few local children, and they were fabulous! My whistle had a decent burial in my backyard, as soon as I arrived home.) Now I play the disc player & collect trad music. Your site will keep me informed (as Irish Music Mag. does), only I will get the info at a much faster rate, which will help me locate pubs & sessions, etc., on my next trip to Ireland (May 19-June 3). Thanks again and I wish you well, Tony...

Hi Tony,

Hope your well. Just a quickie, the "Chat" option seems to have vanished from the green menu bar. Is that intentional?

Cheers,

Mike
