Hi Connie,

You know, I was just thinking about you - I hope your keeping well. I see you have joined the Carolan group. Many thanks for signing up for that, I hope you get a lot of fun out of it and discover dozens of  "must learn" gems amongst the tunes.

The group belongs to its members, so it thrives on member contributions!!!

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Connie. Jack Bogard gave the Riley School a good mention at about 6 minutes in on the Fleadh Programme. Link will only work for a while http://www.rte.ie/player/#!v=1143936

Hi Connie Rae, just confirmed my place on the faculty for Swannanoa 2012 and can't wait !! I really love taking part in this very spacial event. Completed a 10 day Irish Tour with John and Martin last week and all are well I'm glad to report.
Would really be something to get Skelton's students signed up for trad connect but I think it would be an even bigger coup to get John himself onboard !!
Lovely to meet up,
Kev

Hi Connie, I didn't notice the member # - serendipity :)  I like your photos too, and just been reading your profile, nice to be in touch with someone from across the "pond". I need to get a profile picture done, something well airbrushed! Thank you once again. Breda.

Thank you for the invite. Just returned from a 3-day Irish music retreat in Texas. There we had Martin Hayes and Liz Carroll teaching the upper levels (not my level), doing little talks for all and concerts at night. It was so inspiring. I learned I can actually learn by ear and am beginning a surge of playing along with slowed down CDs. The friend I attended the retreat with and I are looking for more Irish music retreats to attend around the country--maybe 2 a year. I will check into the one you mention. Bye and happy bowing.

Thanks for the encouragement. I actually started a little longer ago than that but have not progressed more than a year or two's worth because of not playing regularly and never having had the best memory for the sequence of things, including notes. However, just the sound of any note on a fiddle is pleasure to me and I keep plugging along. My husband thinks I am a much better player than I do, so I do not know which of us to believe. If I ever come to Ohio I will look you and your group up.

A week from today I am joining a friend I made on a trip to Ireland in May to go to an Irish music camp in Midlothian Texas. New experience; I cannot wait! We will be playing and learning by ear only--a stretch for me as I am a note reader and play much better with sheet music.

Your photos are adorable.

Cheers and happy playing

My Dad was from WVa too, actually grew up in Harper's Ferry. This was scanned from a negative of his that I found while going through some boxes of his old stuff. I guess the true identity of the at must remain a mystery.
