I discovered irish music during my studies in Nantes (France) in 1973, maybe 1974, while hearing a live radio broadcast (I still have the recording on cassette !) of Planxty. I began to play on whistles, then on wooden flutes (bought at "Sinier de Rider" who had a little shop / workshop in the Galerie Vero-Dodat in Paris, before he left for St-Chartier (France)) that were not all that good. But I was still between Nantes and Paris, participating to folk clubs, as they were called at that time, especially "La table Arthur" and "La veille herbe", while being more and more interested in jazz. I began to take classical training on the Boehm flute (that ended 4 years ago !), and moved to Villeparisis. My family and my work took me away from the celtic diaspora for a very long time.
Six years ago I began to discover the breton repertoire with a blox player that finally leaded us to play on fest-deiz and fest-noz. I play now regularly for breton dancers, having learnt myself to dance.
On october 2011, I have had the opportunity to buy a 6 keyed flute by Stéphane Morvan from breton flute player Philippe Boisard (of "Forzh Penaos") and try to play irish repertoire more regularly so as to be able to integrate sessions where I am not accustomed to play.
Thus, I have the project in mind to be more active on the irish scene and procrastinate so !
